DIVING LIST

Foto

Putting your name on the list for tomorrow´s diving before 5 p.m. is very important and makes our planning easier.

Therefore kindly remember to put your full name, clearly legible on the list beneath half- or fulldaytrip, don´t forget to indicate if you want to dive with Nitrox.

With special signs and wishes you´ll make planning the boats easier for us. Snorkel guests are put as +1 on the list behind the name of the diver.
A bracket } around 2 or more names means that you want to be on the same boat.

In case you are unable to sign up for the dives (e.g. you are on a trip to Luxor) please pre-sign before in the office.

HALFDAYTRIP

Meeting time at the center is 10.45 a.m.
Please wait until the boat list is put on the information board. Below one of the boat´s names you will find your name. That’s how you know your “home” for the day – just walk to the jetty.
Dive sites for half-daytrips are usually not too far away.

So the boat trip lasts between 45 and 60 minutes.

Foto

For each diver we provide one tank (12 l alu, DIN valve, adapters available), filled with air or Nitrox, as well as spare tanks.
During all our dive trips excellent Egyptian black tea is available, free of charge.
The dive site explanation is done by our dive staff and if you want or need to be accompanied by an instructor during the dive – our instructors and guides will do that conscientious and with pleasure.

How long your dive lasts depends on your air consumption. But all tanks must have at least 30 bars left when you go out of the water.

No decompression dives, please!

After the dive you can enjoy a rich hot lunch buffet, everything cooked and prepared fresh.
All our boats have clean European toilets.
Departure time from the dive site is at about 3 p.m. and you are back at the center latest at around 4.30 p.m.

A little tip:

If you change between half- and full-daytrips or join a special trip please don´t forget to take your dive-bag and weight-belt from the boat to put it into the storeroom on the jetty.

Sometimes it may happen that you have to take your bag to another boat in the morning, because the boat needs to be maintained or urgently needs Diesel or we need it for a special trip.

FULLDAYTRIP

We meet at 8 a.m. at the center.
Please wait here for the boat list to be put on the board. Look for your name to know which boat to board and go straight to the jetty.

Foto

All boats are accompanied by at least one of our instructors or guides. For medical emergencies a first aid kit, an oxygen system (Wenoll), VHF radio, mobile phone and some tools and spare parts for diving equipment are of course on board.

The trips to the dive sites last between 45 minutes and 2.5 hours.

We do our best to show you as many different dive sites as possible during your stay. However we have to consider wind and waves. The dive site explanations are given by our dive staff in detailed briefings.
After the first dive an excellent hot and rich lunch buffet is available.

We recommend bringing plenty of mineral water with you.
After lunch it´s siesta time and the boat moves on to the second dive site.

No decompression dives, please !

The second dive should usually be finished before 3 p.m. The departure time from the dive site is also depending on daylight, it can be a little bit earlier in winter.

Two tanks (12 l alu, DIN valve, adapters available) per diver are provided on the boat. Weights and spare tanks are placed on each boat aswell. Please keep your equipment together and do not hang up rental equipment to dry.

This is also recommended for your private equipment: wind and sunlight may destroy the neoprene and we know about some damage!

We will be back at the center at around 4.30 p.m.

COURSES

Foto

Beginner courses

International certificates of PADI – SSI – CMAS

After finishing the course successfully, you are welcome to continue diving accompanied by an instructor or guide. Not all our dive sites are suitable for beginners – in fact some areas are only for experienced divers!

You get a reduced price for rental equipment, for the dive days after the course, during these holidays. Furthermore, to say thank you for learning diving at James & Mac, we give you our J & M divecard, which gives you a 10% discount for all your following dive holidays at James & Mac.

For further information just ask our office staff.

P.S. SSI-certificates are handed out directly at the center.

DIVING COURSE

Foto

The course of the diving course for beginners depends individually on the participants. Each instructor will adapt to the needs of his/her students. The schedule below is an approximate time plan. Changes are possible at any time and are arranged with the participants.

1st day
No course without some paperwork! First we´ll guide you through the required forms, and then explain the schedule and where to find everything at the center. If not yet done, you will get the equipment you need for the course.

Now it´s time for some theoretical lessons, including knowledge about how the equipment works and how to use it. You assemble your equipment and go down to the beach to collect your first experiences under the surface in shallow water. In a relaxed and easy way you will learn how to do the first breathes under water. What a fantastic feeling! Once used to the breathing technique you start making some elementary exercises with your buddy under supervision of your instructor.

2nd day
Some exercise in shallow water and some theory lessons alternately. After wards you stow all the equipment away.

3rd day
We go out by boat to a shallow dive site to do your first and second open water dive. First we want you to get used to staying underneath the surface and enjoy the contact with this totally new world. Before you start developing gills out of pure joy we repeat some of the exercises you were taught in the lagoon.

Watch, perform and learn to master the exercises, in a secure way, is the main goal all through the course. Remaining theoretical parts are taught either before or after the dives.

4th and 5th day
Diving, diving, diving and learning about the underwater world in a pleasant and secure way is what we do in our dives number three to six. Of course, exercises are integrated into the dives to improve your skills.
Now, if you also managed to answer all the questions of the final theory exam correctly – you have the necessary know-how of scuba diving and are ready to visit the underwater world which is very fragile and needs to be protected.

But also remember that you need more experience and more dives to become what we call an experienced diver and to feel more and more at home underwater.

EXPERIENCE-COURSES

Foto

Specialty courses PADI – SSI – CMAS

You find plenty of information about specialties and advanced training on the information board, including what are the prerequisites and prices.

Apart from having fun, these courses will lead you to more safety in diving and will give you a lot of experience. Usually these courses are held during our full daytrips. If you are interested please contact our office.
There you get further information and maybe already a date to start. Our instructors on the boat will also give you all the requested details and help you organizing everything.

Small tip:
Some dive sites or situations require special knowledge!!! We are looking forward to explaining our "experience-courses" to you.

NIGHT DIVING

Foto

At least once a week we offer nightdives. Please watch the information board for current dates. If you want to join, please enter your full name on the nightdive list. Mark with “yes” if you need a lamp (rental price on pricelist) and/or with another “yes” if you want to have dinner on board.

Departure time:

Make sure what time the nightdive boat goes out. Most of the time the nightdive takes place as a 3rd dive on a full daytrip and so the boat departs a little bit later. Sometimes we collect all the nightdivers after a normal full daytrip at the center and go out again.

If you´d like to do your very first nightdive do not hesitate to tell us. We will do our best that this experience will be great fun for you and you feel safe.

Especially for such dives as night-, deep-, drift-, wreck-dives a.o. it would be advantageous to have greater knowledge and better techniques. With an advanced training you can achieve these. Just ask our office staff or our instructors.

WRECK DIVING

Foto

Abu Nuhas & Thistlegorm trips

Our weekly offered trips to the wrecks at Abu Nuhas or to the legendary Thistlegorm are highly appreciated and loved – but unfortunately depending on the wind very much!

If wind and waves allow a safe crossing of the Street of Gubal a planned tour to Abu Nuhas may be changed into a trip to the Thistlegorm. In the same way, increasing wind may stop a planned tour to the Thistlegorm at Abu Nuhas or the destination is changed to Rosalie Moller.

The final decision is always made by the captain and the instructor in cooperation.
For these tours the boats may start earlier and return later.

Information about extra fees and departure times can be found on the special wreck lists (again, mark with "yes" for lamps and breakfast) or in the office.

RETURN OF THE BOATS

Foto

Foto

Your return: between 4.00 and 5.00 p.m.

After the boat is safely tied to the jetty we would like you to show that a common dive day made you a power team by making a “chain” to unload all the empty tanks to the jetty. THANKS !!!

Our Egyptian center staff probably has already full tanks for the next day´s diving ready on the jetty. So please keep attention on where you put the empty tanks. Loading the full tanks will be done later in the evening by our Egyptian center- and boat-staff.

A general habit in Egypt is the baksheesh (tip) system. So, our staff would be happy if you “thank” them for good work by giving some tip. After all, with their helpful and friendly behavior they look for safety, order and cleanliness on the boats and in the center.

If you are doing a full daytrip the next day, you can leave your equipment on the boat overnight.
